In India, the green coffee bean is traditionally grown in the Western Ghats spread over Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
It can be grown in fertile volcanic red earth or deep sandy loam and it is important that the soil is well-drained, which makes heavy clay or heavy sandy soils inadequate for cultivation.
Seeds are sown in December–January and harvesting starts during November and extends up to February.
